Dr. Man Ho Au is an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science, the University of Hong Kong. Before that, he was an associate professor and a co-director of the Monash-PolyU-CC Joint Research Lab on Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Technologies at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests include information security and blockchain technology. He has published over 170 refereed papers in top journals and conferences, including CRYTPO, ACM CCS, ACM SIGMOD, NDSS, IEEE TIFS. His work received many international recognitions, including the 2009 PET runner-up award for outstanding research in privacy-enhancing technologies and best paper awards of ACISP 2016, ISPEC 2017, and ACISP 2018.
Dr. Au’s research has been generously supported by funding agencies and the industry. His research work generated noticeable social and economic impact and has been adopted in many blockchain projects, including Hyperledger Fabric. He is an expert member of the China delegation of ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 working group 2 - Cryptography and Security Mechanisms.
Dr. Qiang Tang is currently an assistant professor from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and also a Director of JACOBI Blockchain Lab (sponsored by JD.com). Before joining NJIT, he was a postdoc at Cornell under supervision of Prof. Elaine Shi, and he obtained his Ph.D from UConn under supervision of Prof. Aggelos Kiayias and Prof. Alexander Russell. His research span broadly in applied and theoretical cryptography and blockchain technology, and his work mostly appeared at top venues of security/crypto/distributed computing. He won a few prestigious awards including MIT Technical Review 35 Chinese Innovators under 35, 2019 (for his work on backdoor resistant crypto and blockchain), a Google Faculty Award and more.
Jing Chen is Chief Scientist and Head of Theory Research at Algorand Inc. She is an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at Stony Brook University, and an affiliated assistant professor at the Economics Department. Her main research interests are distributed ledgers, smart contracts, game theory, and algorithms. Jing received her bachelor's and master’s degrees in computer science from Tsinghua University, and her PhD in computer science from MIT. Jing received the NSF CAREER Award in 2016.
Jiangshan Yu is a lecturer (~U.S. Assistant Professor) at Faculty of Information Technology and Associate Director (Research) at Monash Blockchain Technology Centre, Monash University, Australia. His research provides breakthroughs on blockchain systems. The importance and impact of his research have been evidenced by several exclusive and competitive awards, including IBM Faculty Award (2020); the Dean’s Research Impact Award at Monash University (2019); a finalist for Endeavour Awards which is a part of the Premier Awards Program in Australia (2019); Chinese Government Award for Outstanding PhD Scholar Abroad (2016); and a finalist for RAEng Enterprise Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), UK (2015). His research has been recognised by the Australian Government’s National Blockchain Roadmap as an example of the world-leading blockchain research activities in Australia. His research is also of public interests as illustrated by media attention including hundreds of news media reports in over 7 languages across more than 10 countries.
