Author Instructions

Submissions must be made through the Conference's EasyChair system available at the following links:

NSS 2024 Submission LinkSocialSec 2024 Submission Link

We will publish our proceedings with Springer as a volume of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.

Authors are invited to submit original papers: they must not substantially duplicate work that any of the authors have published elsewhere or have submitted in parallel to any other conferences that have proceedings or any journal. The submission must be anonymous, with no author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, or obvious references. Original contributions are invited up to 16 pages in length (single column) excluding appendices and bibliography and up to 20 pages in total, using at least 11-point fonts and with reasonable margins. Submissions not meeting the submission guidelines risk rejection without consideration of their merits. Detailed author instructions and LaTeX/Word templates for LNCS publications can be found via the following link:

Springer LNCS Author Information

Types of submissions:

  • Full Paper: presenting novel and original research findings. Submissions must adhere to a maximum limit of 20 pages.
  • Short Paper: presenting original work-in-progress, which has not yet reached the level of maturity required for a full paper. Short papers should be limited to 10 pages. The title of each short paper should start with the phrase "Extended Abstract." Accepted short papers be included in the conference proceedings.

Posters

Participating in NSS/SocialSec 2024 by presenting a poster offers a valuable opportunity for students and researchers to receive feedback on their ongoing work from knowledgeable participants at the conference. We encourage the submission of posters that present unpublished in-progress or late-breaking research, as well as extensions of published work on security and privacy topics. We also welcome posters showcasing interdisciplinary work that is relevant to security and privacy research but was published outside the security community.

Students/ researchers are invited to submit an abstract, along with a draft of the poster, describing their work for consideration. Abstracts should be no longer than two pages and must begin with the keyword "Poster:" The abstract should include all authors with their institutional affiliation and contact information. The abstract should briefly describe the problem being addressed and the approach taken. While providing preliminary results is suggested, it is not mandatory. If the work has been previously published outside the security community or is an extension of any published work, please include a reference to the existing publication.

Please submit your poster proposals in PDF format, using the 2-column Springer template. You can find the template at https://www.springer.com/gp/authors-editors/conference-proceedings/conference-proceedings-guidelines. Remember, your proposal should include author information (name, affiliation, country) as it's not anonymous. The submission will be through EasyChair system.

If your proposal is accepted for the conference, you'll need to bring your finished poster and present it during one evening of the event. You'll set up your poster beforehand and stand with it for about 75 minutes. We'll email you details about the poster format before the conference. Typically, posters are attached to a 40x30 inch backing.

To present at the conference, you or someone representing you must register, pay the registration fee, and attend the event. Students can register at a reduced price, but everyone else, including conference organizers, must pay the full fee. You'll also need to either provide a link to your presentation or deliver a soft copy by the presentation date.

Workshops

NSS/SocialSec 2024 workshops cover current topics that attendees typically find valuable and engaging. They offer a dynamic platform for IT professionals like standards developers, software developers, security engineers, and security officers to share ideas, discuss concerns, and express opinions.

NSS/SocialSec workshop typically spans a half day, lasting around 3 to 4 hours, fostering interactive discussions among multiple presenters and participants. These workshops serve as a vibrant platform where members of the standards and software development communities engage in lively exchanges of ideas, opinions, and concerns related to the workshop topic.

It's important to note that NSS/SocialSec 2024 workshop is not:

  • A presentation of your research findings.
  • A broad overview of Computer Science topics.
  • An opportunity to promote or market a product or service.

The workshop submission doesn't require a fully developed workshop at the time of submission. However, you should have a clear outline of the workshop, including initial plans on how it will be conducted and how time will be allocated to each section. You don't need to include a general overview of computer security. Workshop submissions have a unique structure compared to papers or panel proposals. Here's how your workshop submission should be organized:

  • Title of the workshop
  • One to two paragraphs introducing the workshop and its objectives.
  • One to two pages outlining the workshop, including rough time estimates for each section.
  • Identification of the workshop author, including contact information such as mailing address, email, fax, and phone number.
  • One to two paragraphs providing biographical information about the workshop moderators.

This structured approach ensures clarity and coherence in presenting your workshop proposal.

Workshop submissions should be sent electronically to the Workshops Chair. Alternatively, you can submit via the following EasyChair links:

You can submit workshops in any of the following formats: Microsoft Word, Rich Text Format, or plain Text.

If your workshop is accepted, here's what you can expect:

  • By End-August: You'll need to submit an updated version of the workshop proposal for inclusion in the Advance Program. It's crucial that the workshop description is accurate, and the outline is correct.
  • By Mid-October: You'll need to provide another updated version of the proposal. This version should include additional information describing the major topics that will be covered during the workshop.
